5 Infused Water Recipes to Better Hydrate Yourself

It’s important to stay hydrated, but water can become a little dull after a while, and you risk missing out on your recommended intake simply because you don’t want a glass of regular H²O. Natural infusions to the rescue! Here are five of our favourite flavoured water recipes that you can sip on all day long.

MORNING MOTIVATION: CITRUS AND CUCUMBER

Start your day with a refreshing infusion to wake you up. Slice up some cucumber (leave some aside for a soothing evening eye mask) and add to a jug of cool filtered water. Squeeze in some drops of lemon juice, cut the rest into segments and add to the mix. The cool flavour of the cucumber perfectly complements the natural acidity of the lemon. Alternatively, you could use lime, orange or grapefruit – citrus champions!

AFTER-LUNCH DIGESTION: BERRY AND MINT

Mint is known for its ability to improve digestion, making it ideal for a post-lunch infusion. Dark berries such as raspberries and blueberries are high in antioxidants, and add a sweet, fruity touch*. Who needs dessert?  Remember to rub the mint leaves and lightly squeeze the berries before adding to the water, to release the flavour. By preparing the mixture in the morning, you’ll ensure the infusion is full of flavour by lunchtime.

AFTERNOON DRINKS IN THE SUNSHINE: GINGER, PEAR AND VANILLA

The ultimate taste combination, this infusion is a cocktail of tastes: fruity pear, spicy ginger and sweet vanilla will please any palette. We recommend this mix for a sunny day with friends. The flavour will last for up to a week, so you don’t have to worry about making too much. Likewise, when it comes to how many ingredients you add: more is more!

SATISFY YOUR SWEET TOOTH: CHERRIES AND LIME

This sweet and fruity infusion will have your taste buds nodding in agreement: the cherries give a burst of natural sugar, and the lime provides a delicious citrus aftertaste. Why not keep the fruit when your bottle is empty and use for a nutrient-packed smoothie later on? Cherry and lime is a taste sensation!

POST-WORKOUT: CUCUMBER, LIME, MINT

Reward yourself after a workout with a deeply hydrating water infusion using cucumber, lime and mint. Alternatively, watermelon makes a great replacement if you intend on using your cucumber for the eye mask we mentioned earlier on! Both fruits (yes, cucumber is actually a fruit) are known for their ability to flush out toxins, while mint and lime help with digestion and relaxing cramped muscles**. For a flavour-packed infusion, leave the mixture in the fridge overnight.
