What is Activia® from Danone?

Activia® is one of the first new generation of yoghurts with a probiotic culture.

This yoghurt contains an exclusive bifidobacteria called Bifidus ActiRegularis™. Bifidus ActiRegularis™ is our unique probiotic bacteria that has undergone clinical studies¹ and is scientifically proven for its ability to survive in the digestive system. It's also a delicious way to help your digestive system function well. Additionally, Activia® contains no added sugar and no artificial sweeteners.

To get the creamy texture and delicious taste of our Activia®, we’ve been perfecting our natural fermentation process since 1989. The perfect balance of temperature and our slow fermentation process keep our yoghurt cultures alive growing billions of probiotics.

Is Activia® a yoghurt?

Yes. Activia® is a yoghurt because it is fermented, not only by Bifidus ActiRegularis™, but also other cultures including two that are used traditionally in yoghurt: Lactobacillus bulgaricus and Streptococcus thermophilus.

Where can you buy Activia®?

Activia® is available at all major retailers and can be found in the yoghurt aisle of Woolworths, Coles and IGA.

Is Activia® made in Australia?

We are crafting our Activia® locally in the Kiewa Valley, Victoria, with all our milk sourced from Aussie cows.

How much sugar does Activia® contain?

Activia® contains no added sugar; the sweetness in our Activia® comes from the natural milk sugar (lactose), stevia leaf extract and fruits.
The level of the natural milk sugar is about 4.5g/100g.

Does Activia® contain any Gelatine or artificial colours or flavours?

No. Activia® does not contain any gelatine, artificial colours, artificial sweeteners or preservatives.

Is stevia an artificial sweetener?

Activia® does not contain any artificial sweeteners. We are committed to provide healthy products to our consumers with all the goodness of dairy with no added sugar. That’s why our Activia® is now sweetened with naturally-sourced stevia. It’s our way to help you give your gut some love.

Is Activia® relevant for Australian consumers?

What is the recommended daily intake of Activia®?

Studies¹ have shown consuming 125g twice a day during four weeks of Activia helps reduce digestive discomfort when consumed daily as part of a healthy diet and lifestyle.

Is Activia® suitable for all ages?

Our Activia is good for all ages: children, teenagers, grown-up adults, grandparents and even pregnant woman. It is suitable for the whole family who is looking to eat a healthy and balanced diet.

Are there other similar products offered on the market?

Can Bifidus ActiRegularis™ be harmful?

Where does Bifidus ActiRegularis™ come from?

Bifidus ActiRegularis™ comes from fermented milk and was specially selected for its ability to grow and survive in Activia®. Bifidus ActiRegularis™ is a probiotic culture that has been the subject of clinical studies and is supported by 17 scientific studies¹, and proven to survive through your stomach to your large intestine alive.

Can the Bifidus ActiRegularis™ probiotic in Activia® survive for a long time in the digestive system?

Studies¹ show that Bifidus ActiRegularis™ can survive in the intestine for up to 10 days following the last ingestion and that it does, in fact, populate the digestive tract. This delay simply represents the time it takes to eliminate Bifidus ActiRegularis™. That is why only a regular daily intake of Activia® guarantees its effectiveness on digestive comfort* such as bloated feeling.

Is there a risk in eating too much Activia®? Are there any counter-indications?

To have a healthy balanced diet it is important to eat a wide variety of nutritious foods from all five food groups every day and it is recommended not to over consume any particular food including Activia®. Could you say that Activia® is a laxative?

No, it’s a yoghurt. A laxative is a supplement specifically designed to treat constipation. The regular consumption of Activia supports a regular transit time and overall digestive comfort* and should be consumed as part of a healthy and balanced diet. Could you say that Activia® prevents constipation?

The regular consumption of Activia supports a regular transit time and overall digestive comfort* and should be consumed as part of a healthy and balanced diet however it is not designed to specifically treat constipation. Can I eat Activia® even if I'm on antibiotics or medication?

Activia® is a yoghurt which is a traditional food in the diet and can be consumed daily as part of a healthy and balanced diet in accordance to the Australian Dietary Guidelines. It is recommended that you follow the instructions for taking your medication and always consult with your health care provider if required.

Is it possible to consume Activia® after its expiration date?

Like all fermented milk products, it must ideally be consumed before the use-by date.

Can I consume Activia® if I am pregnant or nursing?

Yes, Activia® is a yoghurt which is a traditional food in the diet can therefore be consumed by the whole family as part of a healthy and balanced diet. Is Activia® suitable for diabetics?

Yes, Activia can be part of a healthy and balanced diet. It provides a source of dairy and it has no added sugar. It’s fresh, delicious and naturally sweetened. To discuss your specific dietary needs, we recommend consulting with a health care professional.

Is Activia® suitable for people having Irritable bowel syndrome?
